It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Shields (née Mannion), Lawrencetown, Galway, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at The Holy Family Nursing Home, Killimor, Co. Galway, Nancy departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Jim, sister Maureen (Seaver), and brother Fr. PJ (John), Nancy will be deeply missed by her children, Una Mahon, Michael Shields, Ann Shields, and Claire Shields (O’Driscoll); her brother Tommie Mannion (Moylough); sister-in-law Marie; brother-in-law Tom Seaver; sons-in-law Dan, Niall, and Barry; daughter-in-law Deborah; grandchildren Lisa, Dónal, Áine, Clodagh, Orla, Ciarán, Sarah, Katie, Cillian, and Bronagh; great-grandchildren Dylan, Ava, Fiadh, and Millie; step-grandchildren Luke and Aaron; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Nancy’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her commitment to her community. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.May she Rest in the Peace of Christ.
Funeral Arrangements
Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 Nancy will repose at Grenham’s Funeral Home, Ballinasloe (H53 HK15), from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by removal to St. Mary’s Church, Lawrencetown (H53 DC80).Thursday, January 23rd, 2025Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Nancy at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, Lawrencetown (H53 DC80). Following Mass, she will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Lawrencetown.
