
Nora O’Sullivan of Gurrane, Gortatlea, Currans, Kerry, and late of Kenmare, passed away peacefully at University Hospital Kerry on Friday, 26th June 2026, after illnesses bravely borne. She was surrounded by her loving family and received wonderful care from the hospital staff and the team at Willow Brooke Care Centre in Castleisland, where she had made her home for the previous 18 months.
A dedicated educator who touched many lives through her work at the Vocational School in Henry Street, Kenmare, Nora will be fondly remembered by her community. She is survived by her loving niece Margaret Blake of Kilcummin, nephews Noel Cronin of Ballymacelligott and Kevin Cronin of Dublin, along with her grandnieces Aoibheann, Caitriona and Orla, and grandnephew Conall. She is also survived by Margaret’s husband John and Kevin’s wife Gabrielle, as well as many relatives, kind neighbours, past pupils, colleagues, and a wide circle of friends.
Nora was predeceased by her brothers Terry and Pat, and her sisters Kay O’Driscoll of Kilcummin and Eileen Cronin of Ballymacelligott. Her gentle presence and commitment to family and education left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Funeral Details
Nora will repose at Tangney’s Funeral Home, Church Street, Castleisland on Monday evening, 29th June, from 6pm to 8pm. She will be removed from her home in Gurrane on Tuesday morning, 30th June, at 10:30am, arriving at the Church of St. Therese and St. Colmcille, Currans, for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial will follow in Ardcrone Cemetery, Currans. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Currow/Currans Churches Facebook page. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Kerry Hospice Foundation.
